Tower Bridge is an incredible landmark; you can actually go on to the high level walkway 42 metres above the River Thames and take in the stunning panoramic views. It also houses several exhibitions - ‘Great Bridges of the World’ features more than 20 bridges, each representing a breathtaking feat of engineering.
The Clink Prison Museum has a wealth of artefacts, including torture devices, and a history that dates back to 1144. It gives a fascinating insight into the prison and its inmates – and you can even look up your own ancestors to see if they served any time there!
Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is a reconstruction that stands a few hundred yards from the original theatre. It opened for performances in 1997, and is dedicated to exploring Shakespeare’s work. Productions range from original texts to world premieres of new writing.
