Brighton’s Sea Life Centre has over 1,500 creatures and 50 displays – you can watch the turtles and sharks in the underwater tunnel and seek out the Giant Pacific Octopus in its garden.
The Lanes are fabulous if you fancy a wander and a browse. They’re a maze of alleyways crammed with independent antique, jewellery, fashion and design shops. Quadrophenia Alley was the location of a key scene in the film, Quadrophenia.
No visit to Brighton would be complete without a stroll along Brighton Pier. It still retains its Victorian charm and has fairground rides and an amusement arcade.
There are water sports and sailing activities on Brighton’s famous Blue Flag pebble beach and some great art galleries in the Artists’ Quarter on the lower promenade.
Night life here is extensive – in a historic venue on St Georges Road, the Proud Brighton Ballroom is a fabulous retro club that stages burlesque, cabaret and musical entertainment.
